Bassoon: Álvaro Prieto Pérez

Born in Salamanca in 1980, he starts his musical education at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música, in his home town, obtaining a high degree in bassoon at the Conservatorio Teresa Berganza, Madrid. He finishes the master degree at the Conservatorio Superior de Música of Salamanca, with the highest marks, with professor Davis Tomás, obtaining also the Premio Extraordinario Fin de Carrera award. At the same time he has been attending various courses in orchestral improvement and in his speciality, with professors Brian Pollard, Alberto Grazzi, Garret Newman, Enrique Abargues, Francisco Alonso and Vicente Merenciano, among others. He has belonged to several young orchestras, like the San Jerónimo el Real Orchestra of Madrid, the Young "Fundación Coca-Cola" Orchestra, the Universidad de Valladolid Orchestra, "Antonio Machado" Young Orchestra of Salamanca, Students Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid, O.C.S. of Salamanca, this one conducted by Lutz Köhler.

He has collaborated with various professional orchestras, like the Madrid Philarmonic Orchestra, the Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra, Ciudad de Granada Orchestra, Madrid Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of Castilla y León, Symphonic Orchestra of Galicia, Neues Orchester Basel... He is also member, from 1999, of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE), and of the European Union Young Orchestra (EUYO), from 2002, as well as spare member of the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra (PMF). At the present time, he continues his education at the Musik-Akademie in Basilea, with professors Sergio Azzolini (bassoon), and Omar Zoboli (camera music), in the category of Konzertdiplom.
